A chance conversation at last night's open house provided one such opportunity. As most of you know I purchased a new camera this year. I've had some success with it, but frankly my knowledge is very limited, and there have been times when I've messed things up to the point where I need to reset the darned thing! Anyway, one of the women at the party was telling us about the photography classes she recently took at the arts center in the city. I asked her a few questioned and learned that the first two classes (of a possible 10) start with the basics - how to turn your camera on - and students learn using their own cameras.
I'm excited and plan to look into taking at least the initial two classes. I've checked on the online catalogue and the first class starts the day after I return from Hawaii. Maybe not the best timing but definitely do-able!
On another, somewhat related note, I've about given up trying to figure out how to get additional photos on this blog. The cats have been pestering me to start their own blog ;-) and I've finally given in. You'll find Kitty Korner here. The cats are currently sleeping off the affects of the night before - I wasn't home so I have no idea what they were up to - but I'm sure they'll be blogging soon!
I've also decided to start another blog, specifically for my trips, but that one has yet to be set up. I'll share the link when I finally get around to putting it together. This is my way of getting around the photo limit for the time being until I do enough research to find another way to manage.
I'm starting the year with two newchallenges opportunities. I'm not sure how well I'll manage with either. I suspect one of the blogs will take a back seat because of the time involved. And I'm a bit of techno Luddite so learning to use the camera better is a little intimidating. But I'm still excited to try!
I won't be setting any resolutions because I'm certain I've have broken them by tomorrow anyway. Instead I'll look for new opportunities this year, to learn and challenge myself.
How about you? What possibilities exist for 2013 for you?

I've not taken a photography course, but I know a few who have and have gotten a lot from them. (Depends on the instructor too!) So good luck!
Ah, you've succumbed to a cat blog. LOL. Well, that's great! I'm not sure how much I'll be posting on Fuzzy Tales, if at all, during 2013. I'm rather burned out on it all, because it's become impossible to keep up with everyone and participate in the CB as I did when I first joined a few years ago. I also find that very little holds my interest past a few years (i.e. hobbies). So I'll see how that goes.
However, I'll head over to Kitty Korner and subscribe, so I at least can lurk. :-)
Happy new year!
The start of a new year always holds wonderful possibilities! How fun to take photography classes. I look forward to your photos with your new camera.
xo Catherine
I'd like to take a photography class too...I'll be interested to see how you like yours.
Heading over to visit the cats!
I so look forward to your photo blog!! And yay for your kitty blog too!!
Happy happy New Year! Take care

Happy new year to you. It sounds like you've set yourself some impressive goals for the new year. Time is always a factor, unfortunately. I've found that work (i.e. making the small amount of money I make) takes up half my day in one way or another. With the actual job, travelling to it and back, preparing for it, etc., twelve hours of the day can be used up. No wonder everyone wants to be rich. Anyway, I will go over to your new cat blog now and see what's up.
